• Cocaine is a made from the leaves of the cocoa plant.

• Powdered cocaine is inhaled through the nose  or dissolved in water and injected.

• Crack is cocaine that has been processed to make a rock crystal that can be smoked.

• Cocaine produces short-term euphoria, energy, and talkativeness. 

• The high from snorting cocaine may last 15 to 30 minutes; the high from smoking may last 5 to 10 minutes.

• When cocaine is used in combination with alcohol, this toxic combination causes a greater duration of drug effects in the brain and is the cause of more deaths than any other drug combination. 

• Cocaine causes a short-lived, intense high that is immediately followed

• by the opposite—intense depression, edginess and thoughts of death.
