When it comes to drugs a person only has control over addiction, if he chooses NEVER to take a drug. If family genetics or habits are not linked to ones additction, it can also occur simply through the use of drugs.
Frequenty, people turn to drugs during bouts of loneliness, depression, shame, or anger. Simple experimentation and rebllion are often other reaons people turn to drugs. The temporary relief initiated by a drug triggers the desire for more relief. Drugs can begin to alter the brain after one use or after several. It can differ from person to person. Once the brain is altered, one loses the power to stop. It is no longer a choice.
